It is great to see that classic motorcycle clubs are still keen to put efforts into organising rallies, especially after 45 years, and even more so as it is getting harder and harder to find people who are able to assist in the organising of such events. Added to this the devastation that was created in the Hawkes Bay area last year after Cyclone Gabrielle ripped through the province in February. This alone has had people having to shelve their hobbies and readjust their lives to what is really important.
So full cred to the Hawkes Bay Classic Motorcycle Club in organising their 45th Classic Motorcycle Rally to be held over the weekend of 13th~15th September 2024. It is based at the Stoney Creek Ranch, Tait Road, Maraekakaho. (Off State Highway 50) which has bunkhouse accommodation. You will need your sleeping bag and pillow, and toothbrush (or a glass for your dentures if you are of the elderly persuasion). There is also ample paddock space for campers.
The venue opens at 2pm on Friday, with bar and nibbles from 4pm and a chance to meet and greet other participants. Saturday will include a ride out with a lunch stop and then return to Stoney Creek directly or alternatively via the hosts clubhouse.
The club is putting up a raft of prizes to be presented to entrants including the oldest classic motorcycle, the longest classic bike ride to the rally, best modern motorcycle and Best Ladies Classic Bike. The club are also encouraging the owners of motorcycles over 100 years old (pre 1923) with bonus prizes.
