I have always found small capacity motorcycles entriguing, whether it is for the respect for the riders that rode incredible distances on these types of machines, or for the miniature nature of the actual bike I cannot say. They are just neat. And the Triumph Model XO would be no different. Built with an external flywheel the engine capacity was in 2 sizes 147cc and 174cc, and unlike its earlier cousin the Model X which was a 174cc 2 stroker this little beauty is a 4 stroke sloper. A brave move by Triumph to produce something so small as a 4 stroke with all those extra moving parts, as this was still the depression years and the general idea would have been to produce small cheap motorcycles to keep the world moving economically.
This parts list was supplied free of charge with each new machine from Triumph and as this is an ‘Overseas Edition’ handbook perhaps at least one Model XO made it to these remote shores.
