This year there are 3 first time swap meets the Midlands American Classic Car Clubs swap meet, the Performance and Automotive Swap Meet hosted by Fram Autolite Dragway and the Pukekohe Hot Rod Club, and Capital Rodders swapmeet in Wellington. Hopefully they will all be succesful and not fall to the flea market tat stall holders that invade our mechanical space. Organisers might think that it is just extra revenue by letting them in however as a wanderer of stalls I can personally vouch to the turnoff by having to dodge the plant and handbag sellers. But enough of that blab.
With the attendance numbers dropping off quite dramatically the organisers of the Pukekohe swap meet (this weekend) have recognised that changes were needed and have altered their pricing. It is cheaper for both sellers and buyers, with the major change from $12 per day for buyers, to $10 for both days. Good on you. I for one will be taking advantage of the price saving. Lets just pray for some fine weather.
Another brave move to hold a new swapmeet is the Pukekohe Hot Rod Club. Whether it is to replace their club swap meet in September or as well as, good on them for trying and keeping their prices to a reasonable level sellers $15.00 and buyers $5.00. Fram Autolite Dragway is an excellent venue with good parking and the strip itself is the swap area. Well worth a look and at this time of the year the weather will be fine but chilly. I will be there wearing a silly hat!
