To me motorcycles with chrome petrol tanks are magnificent. They tell me that the manufacturer had pride in their product and that they wanted the best for their customer. New Imperial were one manufacturer that offered such opulence and with red panels on the tank and gold pin striping who would not want to own one. An added incentive from New Imperial was the beautifully shaped alloy primary chain case, especially the triangulated ones on their unit construction sloper models with helical gear primary drive. Motorcycling maintenance was just getting easier.
For 1936 there were 10 models, including 4 new machines, the Model 36 250 OHV, the Model 46 350 OHV, the Model 90 – a fast sporting Clubmans 250 OHV, and the Model 100 – an upgraded Model 90 with a 350 Clubmans OHV engine. Beginners could try out the 150cc Model 23 Minor deluxe, and for the more seasoned rider the Unit Major 550 SV model, or the Unit Clubman Model 76 500 OHV Special were available.
